Tips to Gain Better Control of Your Life Today!
Let’s begin with one example of total freedom and control over one’s life. A person, alone on a remote island or well-protected territory with adequate defenses against natural elements and wildlife, who can provide sustenance and maintain healthy physical and mental faculties to continue these efforts. However, no one would be very satisfied with that life for their permanent accommodation, nor would it provide a continuation of humanity for each person to hold this level of freedom and control.
Taking this extreme example to the next level, adding one person of the opposite sex would ideally reduce the freedom and power by 50% but also double the responsibilities to produce the provisions for living. However, it potentially adds communication, companionship, and a relationship with the possibility of offspring. Indeed, the division of control is not mathematically consistent with the billions of people now inhabiting the earth as it was with one person reducing by 50% because we live in societies and social and civic circles within those divisions, nor does each human member of the world population have, or ever will have an equal share of control or responsibility over that total population.
However, from a Christian worldview, without exception, no one person is more valuable than another. Romans 2:11; Acts 10:34; Colossians 3:11 (NIV). Still, if ideal decision-making power were 50/50 between married partners and equal among siblings mutually cared for and disciplined by the parents within each household, that learned behavior would spread from each home to the schools, workplaces, and into the community for generations. Still, that dream is not yet a reality.
Can one person make a difference in their life? Can that change affect others in their lives and potentially others around them, whether known or unknown? Thankfully, both answers are an absolute yes!
This section will lay out some basic skills for understanding what may be desirable or necessary to change in the first place, some ways to focus on building skills, and a plan to make those changes. This will involve some honest soul-searching, a severe effort, a desire for change, and, most often, support from one or more sources of encouragement and guidance. Let us begin.
